A shout-out this month to workers with disabilities! We celebrate with you on this, the 80th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). “Celebrating Value and Talent” raises awareness about disability employment and celebrates the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities.

Did you know? IL ABLE Account Owners who work and earn money may be able to contribute up to an additional $15,060 more to their Account in 2025? Read more about IL ABLE & Working Account Owners.

NDEAM began in 1945 as a weeklong national observance of the contributions of people with physical disabilities. In 1988, Congress designated the commemoration as NDEAM, which then evolved to acknowledge the importance of increasing opportunities for people with disabilities, including those with mental health conditions and other nonobvious disabilities, in the workforce. In 2001, the Office of Disability Employment within the U.S. Department of Labor was created to administer NDEAM. Learn more about NDEAM.
