Summer has arrived and with it, endless possibilities for summer fun! While the warm weather can mean free time outside, a lot of activities will cost money. Whether you will be spending time at your local pool, taking a family road trip to see friends, camping at your favorite state park, or going to summer camp your IL ABLE account may be able to be used to cover these expenses and help you make the most of your summer.
Savings in an IL ABLE account can be withdrawn tax-free to pay for Qualified Disability Expenses or QDEs. QDEs are expenses that help to improve the health, independence, and quality of life of the IL ABLE Account Owner. Many summer activities and purchases may qualify as a QDE such as:
- Attending a summer day or overnight camp
- Going on vacation
- Transportation to and from a summer job
- Supplies for working in your garden
- Participating in a recreational or sports program
- New sports clothes or equipment
- Attending summer school
- Visiting your favorite museum or cultural institution

Withdrawing money from your account can be done online , by calling customer service at 888-609-8683, or by downloading and mailing in a withdrawal form. It is recommended that Account Owners or their Authorized Individuals retain receipts and statements of transactions.
